WBJEE Medical 2015 Exam Information

WBJEEM Exam 2015 is conducted for admissions to Medical and Dental Colleges of the State of West Bengal. The exam will be conducted on 18 and 19 April 2015.Candidates can refer this article for important details regarding the eligibility criteria, application procedure etc of the WBJEEM Exam 2015.


WBJEEM Exam 2015 is a centralized exam conducted under the direction of the West Bengal State Government for admissions to various Medical and Dental Colleges of the State. Candidates who have completed Class XII with Biology as a subject, can appear for the exam for admissions to undergraduate medical courses. Only candidates from the PCB stream are eligible for this test.

Important Dates

Candidates appearing for the WBJEE medical  Exam 2015 will have to attempt two papers on Biological Sciences and Physics and Chemistry. The paper on Biological Sciences will be held on 18 April 2015 and the paper on Physics and Chemistry will be held on 19 April 2015.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have secured atleast 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and a minimum of 30% marks in English in their Class XII Examination, in order to be eligible to appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Medical 2015.
Candidates appearing for the exam, must also be of at least 17 years of age or above as on 31 December 2014.

Application Procedure

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Medical will be entirely objective. According to the new official notification made by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board, certain changes have been introduced in the exam pattern of WBJEEM 2015. Candidates will have to attempt a total of 250 questions in the WBJEE Medical Exam 2015: 100 Questions from the paper on Biological Sciences and 75 Questions from Physics and Chemistry each. The exam will comprise of three categories of questions as follows:

Category-I: Category-I questions will be for 1 mark each. These questions will have only one correct option and if candidates respond to these questions with more than one correct option, their answer will be treated as wrong. A Negative marking of ¼ marks will be applicable, for every incorrect response.

Category-II: Category-II questions will be for 2 marks each and candidates will have to indicate one correct option. If a candidate responds to any of the questions in this category with more than one correct option, then his/her answer will be treated as wrong. Negative marking will be applicable and for every incorrect response ½ marks will be deducted.

Category-III: Questions in Category-III will have more than one correct option. Candidates who respond to a question with all the correct options, will be awarded 2 marks. For a combination of responses, comprising one or more incorrect options, zero marks will be awarded to the candidate. If however the candidate marks only one correct option, without any incorrect markings, then the formula that will be applied to calculate the marks will be as follows:

2 x (no. of correct response / total no. of correct options).


Selection Procedure

Candidates will be allotted seats for MBBS and BDS courses in Medical and Dental Colleges of West Bengal, solely on the basis of their rank in the WBJEEM 2015 Merit List. The merit list will be prepared after the declaration of the results. The results for WBJEE Medical 2015 will be out in the first week of June 2015 tentatively, following which the merit list enlisting the names of all the candidates who have secured the qualifying marks in the entrance test will be issued.
